Continuing to Grow: Meet the 3 New Members of the Spidertracks Team

Since our last team member update in October 2017, we’ve only continued to grow over here at Spidertracks, with each member of the team committed to our core goals: making aviation safer and solving problems for our customers.

Our latest round of hires sees three new additions to the Spidertracks crew. We spoke with Petr, Igor, and Fred to learn a bit more about them — where they’re from, what brought them to Spidertracks, and what they’re planning to do now that they’re here. Keep reading for more!

Petr Svobodnik // Android Developer

Originally from the Czech Republic, Petr’s interest in computers began in primary school and never waned — leading him to work in Android development upon graduation from university. He comes to us with development experience on multiple fronts, having both worked in mobile at Fiserv and built his own project called Blindshell: an intuitive smartphone designed for visually impaired users.

What drew you to a career at Spidertracks?

Working on a cool project in a startup environment.

What’s your position at Spidertracks, and what does it mean?

I'm an Android developer — which means creating apps for Android!

What three words summarise what you do?

Developer. Mobile. Android.

What makes you get out of bed each morning?

Having the ability to learn and do something new.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do at Spidertracks?

We're going to take our old Android app to the next level and make it as cool as the iOS one!

Igor Khripunov // Senior Software Engineer

Russian native Igor joins Spidertracks following roles with Eroad (a truck telematics company) and ClearPoint. An engineer with a passion for aviation, he’s excited to take up a technical role at an aviation-focused startup!

What drew you to a career at Spidertracks?

I like event-driven systems, I have good experience in this field, and I love aviation — so Spidertracks is really a great match.

What’s your position at Spidertracks, and what does it mean?

Senior Software Engineer. I’m improving our team processes, and code-wise, I’m improving our system.

What three words summarise what you do?

Code. Delivering value.

What makes you get out of bed each morning?

Things I can make better.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do at Spidertracks?

Write some good code.

Fred Macedo // Senior Software Engineer

image-4-1.png

Originally from Portugal, Fred hails from a family of aviators, with a father and two brothers who are pilots. This combined with his own passion for aviation makes Spidertracks a perfect match for the developer, who joins the crew from his previous position as a Solutions Architect at Sektor Distributors.

What drew you to a career at Spidertracks?

My family have a long aviation history. Dad is a helicopter pilot, brother is an aircraft pilot, brother-in-law is a pilot, and I’m taking my PPL. So working around/in the industry is exciting for me.

What’s your position at Spidertracks, and what does it mean?

I’ll be working mostly in our systems front-end — so if it looks cooler or faster, surely I was involved! (Hehe.)

What three words summarise what you do?

Faster, simpler, cooler.

What makes you get out of bed each morning?

Three alarms! I’m a zombie until the second cup of coffee kicks in...

What’s the first thing you’re going to do at Spidertracks?

I'm currently taking time to get familiar with all the systems. It's important for me to know all the technical limitations and possibilities before making a decision and implementing change on any matter. This saves future headaches, and I don’t like headaches!

We hope you’ll join us in giving a warm welcome to the newest members of our team! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to speak to Petr, Igor or Fred.
