From Australasia to Africa: Meet the New Members of the Spidertracks Team

We genuinely believe that the most important part of what we do here at Spidertracks is the people. We’ve got 27 employees across five countries, each committed to making aviation safer and to solving problems for our customers. To better serve our Spidertracks clientele, we’ve added six new members to our team, based in Africa, Australasia, Canada, and the United States — and we thought it’d be a good idea to introduce them to the world.

We talked with Jaco, Keir, Pieter, Randy, Scotty, and Valerie to learn a bit about what brought them to Spidertracks and how they’re planning to help our customers. Read on to get to know the new Spidertracks team members!

 

Jaco Van Rooyen // Lead Software Engineer

Born in South Africa but having lived in New Zealand for 23 years, Jaco joins the Spidertracks team with over a decade of agile development experience with a number of different industries ranging from insurance, education, healthcare, and travel.

What drew you to a career at Spidertracks?

Working with a small group of people with can-do attitude that are out to do bigger and better things.

What’s your position at Spidertracks, and what does it mean to the market you serve?

My official title is Lead Software Engineer, my main tasks will be around bringing some of my experience to the table around building tricky solutions to cool problems while also helping the team grow and mature.

What three words summarise what you do?

Passion, Craftmanship, Creativity.

What makes you get out of bed each morning?

The chance to build something awesome that can really help someone.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do at Spidertracks?

Get to know my awesome new workmates

 

Keir Brown // Sales Director, Australasia

Keir comes to us from Airwork, where he managed the turbine overhaul workshop, represented the company at various trade shows at home and internationally, and worked as the business manager for Airwork-supported Honeywell products. Many of the customers he supported over the last six years already use Spidertracks equipment, so he’s looking forward to keeping those relationships going and continuing to support them with the latest specification equipment.

What drew you to a career at Spidertracks?

I wanted to work for a dynamic company with an excellent product and a great reputation.

What’s your position at Spidertracks, and what does it mean to the market you serve?

Sales Director, Australasia.

I want it to mean happy and engaged customers who are aware of how our very latest innovations can help them.

What three words summarise what you do?

Support delighted customers.

What makes you get out of bed each morning?

My four-year-old daughter (literally pulls me out of bed!).

What’s the first thing you’re going to do at Spidertracks?

Probably buy cakes for morning tea!

 

 

Pieter Cronje // Regional Sales Director, Africa

Born and raised in South Africa, Pieter has grown up with a love of aviation. He followed his passion by starting out as an avionics and instrument technician and then transitioned into the sales and business sector of the industry.

What drew you to a career at Spidertracks?

I’d have to say the company culture is a massive draw. We pride ourselves on doing things differently, and that sets us apart from everyone else. It also promotes and encourages free-thinking and creativity, which boosts morale and keeps us motivated.

What’s your position at Spidertracks, and what does it mean to the market you serve?

My official title is Regional Sales Director for Africa, and I’d really like to bring a simple and effective solution to the African continent. Most African countries have really old or even nonexistent infrastructure, and the continent is vast and wild.

We’ll improve businesses and efficiency and empower people to save lives.

What three words summarise what you do?

Learn, meet, help.

What makes you get out of bed each morning?

The thought that I have the next 24 hours to improve and contribute to someone’s life.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do at Spidertracks?

Embrace everything Spidertracks, and emerge myself in the company and its people!

 

 

Randy Langefeld // Customer Success Director,
North America

Before joining us here at Spidertracks, Randy worked at fleet management solution Aeronet, handling sales of and training on maintenance and flight operation software in various parts of the world.

What drew you to a career at Spidertracks?

I’ve been aware of Spidertracks for several years and knew that the company has good leadership, good products, and a good vision for future innovations.

What’s your position at Spidertracks, and what does it mean to the market you serve?

I’m the Customer Success Director for North America. I expect to enhance the relationships existing customers have with Spidertracks through communication and regular contact with them. 

What three words summarise what you do?

Keep customers happy.

What makes you get out of bed each morning?

My puppy. And looking forward to talking with people and hopefully learning something new.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do at Spidertracks?

Understand our customers and sort out how I can best benefit them in improving their operations.

 

 

Scotty Gage // Regional Sales Director, Eastern United States

Scotty has a rich background in tech sales, having provided local and statewide communications platforms for police, fire, and EMS. Immediately prior to joining us here, he spent time providing self-service solutions to libraries that enabled them to increase efficiency and create better customer experiences.

What drew you to a career at Spidertracks?

I loved that Spidertracks was born out of a desire to serve an industry and impact people’s lives. I love the fact that we’re continually looking to improve upon what we do and to bring solutions to the industry that make a difference. 

What’s your position at Spidertracks, and what does it mean to the market you serve?

I’m the Regional Sales Director for the Eastern United States.

I’m the main point of contact for clients and am here to answer questions; help them solve challenges that come with managing today’s fleets; and keep them informed about industry trends, new regulations, and ways we can help them meet their needs.

What three words summarise what you do?

Listen. Inform. Assist.

What makes you get out of bed each morning?

Most days now, it’s a crying puppy who needs to go outside!

What’s the first thing you’re going to do at Spidertracks?

Meet as many people as possible at NBAA.

 

 

Valerie Pospodinis // Regional Sales Director, Canada

Our new Regional Sales Director of Canada, Montreal native Valerie has always shown an affinity for avionics. She joins the team as the next step in her career in fleet management.

What’s your position at Spidertracks, and what does it mean to the market you serve?

My title is Regional Sales Director, Canada.

It means that my market will be able to access this technology through a local channel that understands their individual challenges and can meet with them and address their questions face-to-face.

What three words summarise what you do?

Solve their problems. 

What makes you get out of bed each morning?

Another opportunity to learn something new! And coffee.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do at Spidertracks?

Learn how to use a Mac? Just kidding…

We have a great solution at Spidertracks; we’ve raised the bar in the areas of safety, efficacy, and fleet management for aviation operators. The market has the right to know that this great, affordable solution is available to them as quickly as possible.
